If an alarm is not registered, the McKinney Police Department will not respond to the call, with the exception of an alarm signaling robbery, panic or duress, medical emergencies or fire alarms. Failure to register the alarm system may result in a fine of up to $500.
The Chief of Police can deem an alarm system “unreliable” and suspend or revoke a permit. Without the valid permit the Police Department does not respond to burglary alarms.
The fourth through seventh false robbery, panic / duress or fire / medical alarms at a residence or business will be assessed a $75 fine per occurrence. After the seventh false robbery, panic / duress or fire / medical alarm a $100 fine will be imposed per occurrence.
For burglary alarms, the permit will be suspended after the 8th false alarm. This means the McKinney Police Department will not respond to a burglary alarm until the permit is reinstated.
